Cristy and Ray are working with the Naval Order of the United States and local authorities in Ste. Marie-du-Mont, France to dedicate a long overdue monument to the United States Navy at Utah Beach. French authorities will donate the land and the NOUS is proposing to build the monument. Dedication of the monument is being planned for June 5, 2008.
The design for the monument was approved by the American Battle Monuments Commission in November, 2005

Historic Tours was proud to coordinate with the C.E.B.A. organization, the dedication of a new plaque at the Sherman tank in front of the castle in Clervaux, Luxembourg. (see two photo's above) The tank was knocked out in December 1944 during the heroic struggle of U.S. forces to slow down the enemy's advance during the Battle of the Bulge. For many years the tank was designated as belonging to the 707th Tank Battalion. Recent discoveries proved that the Sherman was in fact a 9th Armored Division tank. Our Forbes American Heritage Magazine tour member Ed Griesbaum - a Battle of the Bulge veteran of the 80th I.D. - and U.S. Ambassador Terpeluk here unveil the plaque in the presence of Historic Tours' 230 tour members on June 23, 2004

One of the last great monuments to the American forces in Europe in WWII was dedicated to the Yankee Division (26th Infantry Division) at the entrance to Mauthausen Concentration Camp, Austria. The participation of the YD during the liberation of the camp had been overlooked until our tour to the camp with YDVA in 2002. In 2003 with the assistance of the American Battle Monuments Commission, the Austrian government and the American Embassy in Vienna, a major monument was dedicated during our YDVA tour. The Deputy Chief of Mission of the American Embassy dedicated the monument which will be there for future generations to witness. Historic Tours is proud to have played a role.

Dedication of 8th I.D. Memorial in Milliers, France during Our 28th Infantry Regiment Tour - June, 1999

Historic Tours takes great pride in operating our tours with dignity and respect for American veterans and their families. In many cases Historic Tours works closely with veterans' associations and local governments in Europe and Australia, to arrange for the construction of monuments and plaques to the units for which we operate tours. Historic Tours then arranges for a dedication ceremony in which our tour members and appropriate local and national authorities participate. In addition, Historic Tours has designed and presented dozens of plaques from veteran's associations to European towns which have held parades and hosted wonderful receptions for our tour members. These plaques are now to be found in the various town halls where our tours visit.
The monuments listed below were dedicated during tours operated by Historic Tours. Cristy and Ray Pfeiffer personally assisted in the arrangements for the construction of the monument and/or the ceremony to dedicate it.
