Susan is a small animal veterinarian and student of military history who currently practices in Portland, Oregon. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where she did research for many years with Arctic seals.
Her interest in World War II history was inspired by the experiences of her late uncle and a personal visit to Normandy with her brother and sister in 1999.
She maintains several web sites with historical and commemorative themes, and enjoys educating young people about World War II.
